Antebellum: The Five Nations RP - Page 4 Empty Re: Antebellum: The Five Nations RP

The earth cracked beneath her feet, and once more the situation has turned.

While everyone else rushed into battle that at this point was not theirs, Peladryia remained behind. Somewhat idle, this time she seemed to have opted to simply observe.

Why not join in on the fun...?
...You seem to have enjoyed yourself quite a bit just a moment ago.

"My assistance isn't required." The girl murmured to herself. "This is just killing for the sake of it...Immarows' last breath."

Or she just ran out of toys...Isn't that right?

When Luke announced his warning, Pel was in no rush. She knew where the artillery was aimed. The giant worm creature. She decided to further increase her distance, and find some cover that would stand between her and the potential epicenter.

Tryssa released another volley at the preacher, if only to distract and keep him irritated, hearing Luke's warning clearly. The void gripped her once more as Tryssa's legs kicked off the ground, sending her barreling towards Arthur to assist him in his retreat. Luke should be able to reconvene with the others easy enough. It was doubtful that they would be aiming for anything other than the tunnels. She would pull Arthur along to take cover behind any structure that was left standing, or a pile of rubble large enough to conceal them. The lag in her step was practically nonexistent.

Luke fired shot after shot and the High Priest staggered back after two struck him, taking a brightlance and injuring his leg in the process. He nearly tripped and fell but managed to steady himself as another volley from Tryssa rained on him.

"Heathens of the flesh!" He screeched as he fired with his one working brightlance at Luke. The earth shuddered underneath him and the ground erupted in teeth, soil and stone. In a matter of moments, the High Priest was consumed by the massive wurm.

Back with Peladryia and Xerkin, the ground shook one last time before it calmed down. Then, the night sky fell on earth once more. As the wurm crested into the sky when it ate the priest, several starcannons managed to strike it's body. The direct hits caused it to fall to the ground and stay silent. Vetran and Silidar alike took cover, causing casualties in both sides. The explosions eventually stopped, leaving carcasses on the field, oil and blood seeped into the soil. The massive wurm took several hits and its armor had been pierced through, leaving the smell of burning flesh permeating the air.

There were no surviving vetran, the providences lay on the ground lifeless and bits of pieces of metal were scattered. A few silidar poked themselves out of their shelters, wary of another assault.

Tryssa took him by surprise, Arthur never expected her to help him like that. Although confident he didnt need the assistance, he was grateful she showed some care for him. At least that's what he liked to think it was.

He stood up, dusting himself off, coughing a bit from the stirred up dirt in the air. "Thanks" said Arthur, genuinely happy she came to his aid. He looked around for a moment regaining his bearings. It was impressive how much ground they covered in such a short amount of time. To think I'm considered fast for a human..

Tryssa gave Arthur a reassuring pat on the shoulder after witnessing the destruction of both the preacher and the massive Silidar beast. She came out from her place of cover and approached the scene where the preacher had perished. Her boot met with a piece of Vetran debris as she kicked it hard, “Stupid piles of scrap metal!” After releasing her anger and frustration on the partial corpses of the Vetran soldiers, she looked around for any sight of Silidar leadership. The Immarows were trashed. Tryssa would assume the Silidar would consolidate their forces and reinforce where they expected the Vetran to attack next, but wasn’t familiar with their tactics to say the least. Instead, she turned back to her group, “how are we feeling now?”

Luke was in a state of slight shock as he surveyed the battlefield. As much as he had traveled, he was still unused to the sight . The ground was suddenly splotched with red and brown, and the gag-inducing smell of burnt worm flesh penetrated his nose.

He vigorously shook his head to refocus. Might as well use the time the starcannons had bought for some other purpose. Luke rolled his head around once, to relieve the tension.

"I'm feeling alright, though I would prefer that we leave this place soon. Wouldn't want a starcannon shot to ruin our day."

Everyone - Immarrow City, Tunnel Entrance

The ruins of the city was barren, on fire or both. The only noise that was left of the once bustling city was crackling embers and collapsing structures. Amidst it all, were corpses of the warring races and rare among them were the living, a menagerie of races formed into a loose party as an effort to stem what could be a final war and the survivors of the dreadful pre-emptive strike. The silidar survivors came out slowly, some crawled, their legs unrecognizable and others were lucky, able to stand on their own. Injuries among them were varied but they were alive and that was all that mattered to them at the time.

They took note of the party, fellow survivors, but immediately on seeing the metal of Luke's arms they took up theirs and charged forward. Three of them, large and angry, moved like a rampaging rhino intent on skewering the vetran.

Out of the corner of his eye, Luke immediately noticed three furious silidar barreling down on him. I guess they aren't the type to hail us as saviors, huh?

There was no way he could outrun them. Maybe if he had mechanical legs, as they would eventually tire, but as much as he had traveled, not with his.

He thought about unsheathing his weapon. After all, Luke had a few seconds before they got close enough to violently stab him in the chest. It would only take a few shots to slow them down.

The silidar kept coming. Luke, sprinting away from them now, threw away that idea into a mental dumpster. If he managed to kill them, it would give the rest of the Silidar justification to skewer the rest of the party. And even if he didn't, the result would be the same. He had observed enough of them to know that any grievance caused to a member of the Silidar would trigger the rest to try and extract some payback.

He needed a distraction, but something that wouldn't harm or enrage the Silidar currently moving towards him. Words would be useless, as the Silidar had just saw the Church slaughter many of their own.

"Hey! Hey Pel. Do you have any smoke bombs or something?" Luke yelled. He kept running, looking for a place to climb. Luke just needed to stall for long enough.

The encounter went about as well as she expected. The giant worm was struck down, but not before doing enough damage to render such fact insignificant to an obliterated Vetran unit and their dead field leader. Was it a good, or a bad outcome? She couldn't quite tell.

When the final bits of rubble flew by the piece of debris Pel was hiding behind, and dust began to settle, the girl left the haven of her cover intent on reuniting with the party. As she walked, she could see the growing tension between the Silidar survivors, and one remaining Vetran on the field. A couple of curses in her head was enough time for Luke to already be on the run, with a few more furious Silidar in pursuit.

Luke cried out to her for help and distraction. Unfortunately, she had carried only two smoke grenades with her, and both of them were used already. Other tools she had were either inadequate, inefficient, or used up as well. There was however one more thing she could try, before they'll have to resort to violence.

Without a change in her expression, the girl stepped in between running Vetran and his pursuers, planting her feet firmly. "Enough!" Peladryia's voice cracked the air, as she yelled in Silidar. An inhuman sound at such volume hurt her throat badly, but nonetheless thundered with unparalleled, daunting authority. "He's not with them. Save your blood for when it matters!" Even though her pose was confident and nothing seemed to give it away, Pel was more than ready to get out of the way of the fast approaching charge. She wouldn't survive such a hit. It was an elaborate bluff of strength and resolve, but the Silidar didn't know that.

"Enough!" shouted Pel. Arthurs ears were ringing. How could such a small body make such a loud noise? With the attacking Silidar's attention now on Peladryia, Arthur stepped behind her, making eye contact with them, ready to get between the Silidar and his comrade should the need arise. While Arthur kept his sword sheathed, his stern gaze and posture made it clear what would happen if the decided to attack.

The silidar warriors continued their charge towards Luke, their righteous rage focused and condensed into a pure blinding surge. Pel's shout was largely ignored but they also largely kept her out of their path, opting to dodge around her and Arthur. Pel did notice that their eyes did lock on with hers with a moment of hesitation that Peladriya registered as a short clenching of their jaws.

Arthur watched the silidar miners rush past them and direct to Luke's running form. The swordsman's eyes met with the silidar but quickly moved back to Luke.

They were dangerously focused and it would take a force to get them to stop.

Luke kept sprinting, judging from the furious din that erupted right behind him that Peladriya's impressive shout had failed to halt the silidar's progress. The urge to look over his shoulder fluttered about in his mind, but Luke was smart enough to know that the action would immediately result in a very sharp object through his chest.

He concentrated on putting one foot after another, muttering quietly under his breath about his lack of mechanical legs. Luke didn't necessarily hate his biological ones, but it was obvious to see that they wouldn't be able to carry him for much longer.

He began to rapidly scan the area, searching for anything that could halt them for a split second.

In a flash the sound of splintering wood echoed inside of the tunnel entrance. Tryssa had found a plank of wood from the debris and used her void-speed to shatter it against the back of the largest Silidar's head. Her body spun sharply after the hit and her boots collided another Silidar kicking him violently off course for Luke. She landed a little less gracefully than she would have liked but was resolved to make no pursuit for the third Silidar. Either it would stop on it's own or someone else would have to contribute to ending this madness. "These fucking mongrels don't seem to respond to anything but violence," Tryssa spat. The Hollowed woman stood calmly, but remained quite aware of her new surroundings. If these creatures could get such a response from Peladryia and not heed it, then perhaps they would truly be better off beneath a pile of their own ruin.

On impact from the Hollowed woman's strike, the largest silidar stopped. The pain registered to its hulking body and gave acknowledgement to Tryssa's attack. The other miner, whom Tryssa had kicked off course, tumbled onto a wall. The last silidar realized his brethren were stopped in their tracks and halted himself by dragging his tail down to the ground in order to slow himself. The silidar growled at Tryssa.

"Why do you protect the men of metal?" The largest silidar said. "They don't deserve the life have."

The other silidar circled Tryssa. "The other speaks our language, he said, gesturing to Peladryia. "You speak our tongue yet not know the anguish these metal have caused?

When the silidar rushed past her, Peladryia remained idle for a few more seconds, as if she were still giving them time to reconsider. When no such thing happened she turned around with a sigh, reaching deep into her cloak.

It was worth a shot...

As the girl raised her gaze to get a good aim at the assailants, she recognized a familiar blur of Tryssa already waltzing among them. That by itself didn't exactly surprise her, however the lack of lethal force, did. Seeing the situation somewhat deescalate, Pel slowly lowered her arm, and whatever she was to unleash at the silidar, remained in the obscurity of her poncho. Leaving violence to the violent ones more than suited her.

"Because that man of metal had to kill his own kin, protecting himself from an attack, you couldn't protect your city from." Pel scowled slightly at the larger silidar, as she walked towards Tryssa and the other. There was no praise for Luke to be found in her voice, but nor was there any hate towards the reptile. "He fought with you, not against you. So has the rest of us." It was definitely an interesting take on what actually occurred there, but it wasn't false.

The herbalist stopped by Tryssa's side, so that the other reptile either had to stop in front of her, or go around her in order to continue his laps. "This forest is my home too...I know the anguish you speak of. By dawn, I'll know even better." This particular sentence Pel hissed out in reptile's native language, before she switched back to common. "You want revenge?" Peldaryia's voice became louder again, as if she was addressing all Silidar present. The echo of the tunnels amplified the effect. "You wish not to survive the night? Then head south. Channel your wrath towards the cannons of the metal men, and try making the difference to an actual enemy. Throw your life away that way, or make the right choice and rejoin you kin to fight a meaningful battle elsewhere." The girl tugged on her collar as she paused, returning to her usual tone. "Unless death of a singular innocent who happens to have arms of steel is enough for you to expiate the transgression."

"Now...I believe we need to be on our way..."

With the Silidar now focused on Tryssa, Arthur prepared to cover her back if they decided to engage her. He positioned himself so that every Silidar around Tryssa was visible, and unsheathed his sword. The slightest threat to her would result in certain death to at least one. Again Peladryia tried to talk sense into them. It's not as though Arthur didn't sympathize with them either. He understood their pain, their loss. But he could not allow the feelings of others to jeopardize his own comrades. Instead he drowned out his emotions and focused on the situation at hand.

Unfortunately for Luke, he had made a uncharacteristic error in his judgement of the situation. Afraid of the silidar, he kept sprinting farther and farther away from the group, despite the fact that they had come to a halt due to Tryssa's assistance.

By the time he stopped to catch his breath, the surroundings were very unfamiliar. Now, he was slightly lost. Luke thought he heard a loud noise in the distance, followed by a string of words he couldn't exactly make out. He thought about the sound, whilst chastising himself for his moment of stupidity.

Upon contemplation, Luke came to the conclusion that it sounded somewhat like Peladryia. He began to slowly jog back, hoping that someone wouldn't suddenly choose to end his life.

Arthur Cadwell, Jack Knight, Xerkin Shayatin, Tryssa Volg and Peladryia Arvona- Immarrow City, Tunnel Entrance

"Hollowed filth," one of the smaller silidar snarled. Another emerged from the debris.

The bigger one sized Peladryia up and met her eyes with his own. His mouth curled into what Pel could make out as a smile. "Your rage is different," he said. "Foreign but the same at the roots. I will trust your rage. Where are you heading?"

Luke Kowalski -- Immarrow City

Luke could hear the sounds of his fellow metal men in the distance. The low hum of their large star cannons was close enough to hear and it was a dismaying sound to be on the recieving end of their barrels. The night sky calmed, no stars streaking in it and only those that were still brightened it. The landscape proved to be barren still with debris everywhere as well as corpses. He could hear the low growls of the silidar Peladryia was talking to, he was close back again.

And so, Peladryia continued her act, for few things bond two people more than a hatred towards the third.

After staring at the large silidar for almost uncomfortable amount of time, the herbalist turned away towards the tunnels' exit. "We came here for much different reason. Herbs, and medicine." Once more taking in the sight of destruction present outside, the girl finally spoke. "But the forest is a deathtrap now. We won't be able to just walk away...and we shall not. If these people want to leave this place in one piece, the conflict has to alleviated." Pel turned around slightly to look at her party, lingering on each person to give them a knowing look. "That, and I refuse to watch idly as my memories are scorched to the ground in name of greed and ill ambitions. We may not be related by blood or race, but these grounds mean as much to me, as they do to any of you." The herbalist turned fully to face the silidar again. "I have a weapon, exceptionally lethal to men of steel. Should you wish to judge by yourself, you may witness the effects just around the corner." The girl paused, to give the reptile time to digest the information. "I will share the secrets of it...but not with anyone. I need to be sure they are in proper hands to avoid misuse and inner conflict. Those were always the rules of the Palewalker."

"Lead me to the Warlord, warrior and we'll put a swift end to this conflict. Your loss will be avenged." Pel's gaze became and embodiment of cold steel, as she locked her eyes with the silidar.

The raging will was present only on the outside, for the inside gave way to cold calculation.

As he gazed into the night sky, he pondered the contrast between the calmness that seemed to radiate from it and the wreckage that surrounded him.

It's funny how Nature sometimes doesn't seem to care.

He could've stared at the sky for hours, taking in the shades of blue and black, but Luke had enough sense to shake himself away. The uncomfortable hum from the starcannons was enough of a warning that he needed to move.

Luke started to regret not having metal limbs once he resumed moving, but any thoughts regarding that subject vanished once he reunited with the group. He was far too aware of the Silidar's potential, of the possibility that his life could end with a sickening thud.

He also decided that it would be wise to steer clear of Peladryia's gaze, which held a similar sharpness to the pointed weapons he saw everywhere. Unfortunately, Luke also knew all too well that he was no master of stealth.
